New year, new skin? To be honest, I don’t have a whole lot of experience with facials or facial treatments. I have been to the dermatologist a few times, for normal check-ups or when my face broke out more when I was in high school, and I had only received one facial (before this), so I don’t generally treat myself to medical grade skincare. Until I was introduced to the Ageless Skin & Laser Center. It’s located in Sewell, NJ, about a half an hour outside of Philadelphia, and offers a variety of skin treatments for all ages— from botox to facials and massages. Keep reading…
I took this selfie (which is NOT retouched) about a week after the microdermabrasion and LED light therapy treatments. My skin is literally glowing!
I was fortunate enough to experience three of their services during two different appointments– microdermabrasion, LED light therapy, and an oxygen facial. The first time I visited I was amazed how welcoming and soothing the office is. I had Kristi as my aesthetician and adored her SO much. She walked me through each treatment and explained exactly what she was doing and how it would benefit my skin. There was one point in the LED light therapy where I was NOT liking the light because my eyes are SO sensitive, but she told me that I would get used to it (spoiler alert: I did and ended up actually finding the light to be very relaxing), and started talking to me about her family trip to Disney to distract me until I grew accustomed to the light. 😂I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter or more knowledgeable aesthetician!
Devon was my aesthetician for my second appointment and was the same way– beyond friendly, knowledgeable, and so dedicated to helping me feel my best about my skin! I also got to meet Dr. Danielle Brenza, who owns the practice– which is ALL women, by the way (one of my favorite parts about it!). She is brilliant (not to mention stunning) and was so sweet and welcoming as well. The women at the front desk were even beyond kind to me, so besides the great treatments I received, the people made the experience so memorable and wonderful! Now, let’s get to the treatments…
Below I describe the three treatments I received (I took notes during them because I’m crazy like that, it’s fine) and then share their Brenza Beauty Membership, which is such a great way to be introduced to their treatments at a steal of a price.
Receiving the oxygen facial!
Their office waiting room during the holidays… it’s so relaxing there!
Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive medical grade procedure that renews your skin’s overall texture and tone. The one I received was done with a diamond tip tool, that Kristi used to gently move around my face and exfoliate it. It did not hurt at all but still was powerful enough to remove all of the dead skin (ew) on my face. I believe it took about 15 minutes to complete.
LED Light Therapy
I received the LED Light Therapy right after the microdermabrasion in my first appointment. It’s a light treatment that heals your skin by stimulating its collagen. It’s therapeutic while creating collagen and killing the bacteria that causes you to break out, thus helping combat dry skin, large pores, acne scars, etc. It’s done with a healing lamp that goes over your whole face while you are wearing a special wrap over your eyes to protect them. Kristi told me that it “helps your skin glow” and that’s truly how I felt after the treatment. I believe I was under the light for about 20 minutes. It may not be for you if you are claustrophobic. Keep reading for my results!
My second appointment entailed an Oxygen Infusion Facial. This is an oxygen treatment that is designed to deep clean your skin and stimulate cell turnover and collagen growth. After a luxurious papaya mask, Devon used a little machine that sprayed oxygen right onto my skin and created a chemical reaction (as you can see in the above video!). The oxygen is influenced with vitamins, minerals, essential nutrients, and botanical extracts, thus it provides the BEST detox and nourishment for your skin! Devon also used Skin for Life moisturizer on my face after the treatment which locked in the moisture in a light but effective way!
After the Microdermabrasion and LED Light Therapy, I immediately noticed that my skin felt smoother to the touch, looked to be a more even tone, and was glowy/rosy from the LED Light Therapy. I shared my real-time unfiltered results in my ‘Beauty’ highlight on my Instagram, so head there to see what I looked like immediately after both the Microdermabrasion and LED Light Therapy treatments. The day after those treatments was a Saturday, and I was shooting photos so I put on a full face of makeup. My makeup went on so smoothly and the glow continued to radiate. My dad actually commented on how well my skin looked (and he had had no idea that I had done anything to it!). I continued to notice a difference through the holidays and my vacation in Florida, in which I took the image above.
After the facial, my skin immediately felt smoother, fuller, and moisturized. I’ve been trying to get rid of a patch of dry skin on my forehead for months and 24 hours after my facial it feels better than it ever has!
Benza Beauty Membership
I couldn’t end this post without talking about the following… the Ageless Skin and Laser Center has a membership program, called the Benza Beauty Membership, where for $99 a month you can select from a treatment menu and receive a personalized beauty treatment that is catered to your specific skin needs. Since your skin requires constant upkeep and maintenance, you can literally leave it up to the experts (hi Kristi and Devon!) and have them develop a program for you based on how you want to improve your skin. Then, once every month you can pop in and receive the treatments that you need– so they are catering to your skin’s needs and acting on them, and you only have to show up once a month… #blessed.
I couldn’t love this idea any more! Kristi said that at the very minimum I should be receiving an exfoliation treatment every month, since she swears that exfoliation is the key to looking vibrant, fresher, and younger looking.
I seriously couldn’t recommend my experience enough and though they were kind enough to gift me the services in exchange for my review of them, I will definitely be going back as a full paying customer! 🙂
